I'm writing to you from the road as my husband and I are on our way home from a trip down the coast. It's been pouring rain since last night, reminding us all that Winter is not quite gone yet, and there will be more showers to bless us in the coming months.
I can't complain too much though, because our farm could use the extra rain. We installed the drip system which has been making a huge difference, but I am a firm believer that flowers need as much water as possible while they're germinating to ensure growth. So I'm not mad at the cloudy skies and free water.
Nevertheless, I find myself daydreaming of warm days, pastel colors, Easter parades, tulips, and all things Spring. In my 20s, if you had asked me what season was my favorite, I would have told you it was Fall, without hesitation. Or Summer, because of my June birthday. But now, I find that the faint sounds and smells of the world defrosting and waking up from its Winter slumber awakens me right along with it. I love the naturally feminine essence of Springtime. It represents everything lovely about being alive - new chances, new birth, new growth. Color, vibrancy and excitement. Yes, slowly but surely, Spring has turned into my favorite season.
This Spring, I'm planning on fully embracing the season through wearing delicate pastel colors, baking fun treats, and spending ample time in my garden. Here are some Spring essentials that I'll be using to bring this enchanting season into every aspect of everyday life.
Gingham Sleep Sets
There's something about gingham that just screams Spring. These gingham pajamas are the perfect way to feel the season while you're lounging around the house, or getting ready to tuck into bed. Cozy enough to still wear a robe over, but light enough to stay breezy at night. I recently purchased them from Piyama in the color berry, but the yellow color also screams Spring.

Farmer's Market Tote
While farmers markets can be year round in warmer states as they are here in California, I know many of our Eastern and Northern friends are still defrosting as we speak. Dreaming of farmers market days and picnics at the park. A market tote bag is a great addition to your Spring essentials list so you can carry all of the fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, French bread and cheese that your heart desires.

Hand Mixer
Do I love my KitchenAid stand mixer? Yes. But every now and again, I find myself wanting to be able to take out something quick and less cumbersome to quickly whip up a pancake or cookie batter. They say that the color of the year is butter yellow, so if you're in the market, a yellow hand mixer or one with a vibrant Spring print will definitely enhance your kitchen experience.

Linen Bedding
As the weather warms up, it's nice to switch out our bedding from thick and warming layers of wool or fleece, to lighter layers of linen and cotton. I fell in love with linen last year when I purchased my first set of Piglet in Bed bedding. I had no idea how luxurious linen could be! Spring is the perfect time to bring out any linen bedding you have to create the perfect, lightweight sleeping experience.
Spring Scent
I love adjusting my scent by the season and these are two of my favorites for the Spring. Daisy Wild by Marc Jacobs is the quintessential Spring scent. It's bright, fresh & feminine and adds a perfect Springy vibe to your vanity or bathroom makeup station. L'imperatrice by Dolce & Gabbana is a scent I recently discovered while on a spontaneous trip to Sephora. I will definitely be picking up a mini version as soon as possible because it smells so divine!

Floral Tableware
Time to take out your Spring tablecloths, plates and taper candles! If you can avoid it, let's try to stay away from the temptation of Home Goods and Anthropologie and use what we have. And if you really feel like you want to update your Spring collection, check out your local thrift and antique stores! When creating a Spring table, think color! Greens, baby blues, butter yellows and pastel pinks are the name of the game. Have fun rummaging through thrift stores to see what treasures you can find.

Essential Oil Diffuser Blends
I love using Springtime as an opportunity to make my home smell fresh, new, and delicious. I love making simmer pots with lemons, grapefruits and roses in the Spring. And creating essential oil blends out of my favorite scents: rose, geranium and lavender create a fresh and spa-like feel that I love re-creating at home.
Spring Journal/Diary
Spring is a great time to pick up some new hobbies that can be done indoors and outdoors. Bullet journaling is something I always want to try, but I always find it too intimidating. It seems like the perfect creative outlet to doodle, use pretty colors, and let your imagination run wild!
With Spring right around the corner, I'm so excited to be taking out my colorful wardrobe, floral table settings and favorite recipe books for all things warm & bright. Wishing you a joyous start to this new season.

F.
