I watched a TikTok recently where the creator was talking about how the reason why summer doesn't feel as epic and fun as it did when we were younger, is because we have stopped making summer bucket lists. And man oh man did that CLICK.
I remember being in 7th and 8th grade, sitting on the floor of my bedroom while the sun beamed in, writing down everything I wanted to accomplish over the summer with my best friends.
The lists were often incredibly stereotypical of what you'd assume a 12 or 13 year old girl would want out of a summer break: "kiss a boy!" "lay out by the pool" "stargaze on the roof" "have a sleepover on the trampoline". (These are all real by the way).
I looked forward to summer so much every year for a few reasons. My birthday was right at the beginning of the Summer season, so that was always exciting. And my mother always signed me up for activities or Summer camps, so I knew I was bound to make new friends, go to my favorite places, and overall just have an awesome time.
I can say that, as an adult, I have made an effort to have enjoyable summers, but last year's summer was just not it.
So this year, I am making an effort to make this summer a big and beautiful one. I'm newly married, starting a new family and ready to take on the world! Well, take on the hot weather.
Here are some of the things I want to do for summer 2023!
