Every year, I have loved making a handful of baked goodies to give to the people in my life for Valentine's Day. Prior to meeting my fiancé, I would make my delicious pretzel brownie recipe for my brother and nephew. Last year, I mailed treats to friends and family who live far away. I love finding any reason to share my love of baking with the people I love during the month of love!
I wanted to share with you my favorite V-day treats in case you get the baking bug and want to spread the love this Valentine's season.
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
Chocolate covered pretzels are my favorite snack and these are SUPER easy to make. Just dip a few pretzel rods into melted chocolate, cover in sprinkles, and let chill on a plate in the fridge! Here is the recipe I follow.

Sweet & Salty Pretzel Brownies

The first time I made this recipe was my Freshman year in college. My friend Sarah and I found the recipe on Pinterest and it ended up being a hit for years to come. My nephew absolutely loves when I make these and requests them at every birthday and holiday possible. But I like to leave them as a special Valentine's Day treat. The only thing I do differently is omit the cashews on top because I really love the flavor of the pretzels. Here is the recipe.
(In case the recipe isn't showing up for you like it isn't for me, simply crush about a cup or so of pretzels and mix with melted butter and sugar. Place at the bottom of your baking dish and set in the oven to bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Allow them to cool. Pour your prepared brownie mix batter on top of baked pretzels and cook to box instructions. Once cooked, allow your brownies to fully cool before icing them with vanilla icing. Top with more crushed pretzels and pink and red sprinkles! You can also add a few drops of food red coloring to your icing to give it a pink hue.)
What You'll Need:
Brownie Mix (and the ingredients needed on the box)
Chocolate Chip Cookies
While this isn't a Valentine's Day specific treat, chocolate chip cookies (and this recipe in particular) are welcome and acceptable at any time of the year. I've tried many recipes and this one is by far the best. I shared it with my Patrons last year during one of our baking challenges and it was unanimous, this is the creme de la creme of chocolate chip cookies. Add in a few heart shaped sprinkles or pink and red M&M's and now they're holiday appropriate! Best chocolate chip cookie recipe EVER.
What You'll Need:
Brown Sugar (or make your own by mixing white sugar and molasses!)
Vanilla Extract
Rice Krispie Valentine's Hearts

While I've never made these specifically, I will find any excuse to make rice krispie treats. They're easy to make and SO much tastier than the pre-made ones you can get in the packages. Grab a heart shaped cookie cutter and you've got yourself the perfect V-day snack to pack in your kid's lunches, give to friends, or enjoy by yourself! Here is the recipe!
What You'll Need:
Valentine's Day Pinwheel Cookies

This recipe is a bit more labor intensive, but if you're up for the challenge, making pinwheel cookies is definitely worth it! They're so much fun aesthetically, and are a delicious alternative to the typical sugar cookie.
